Rev. Zacqrey Woods
Pastor, Teacher, and Lover of Freedom

Why Zac is Supporting Bob Dixon:
“We must have good leaders in Jefferson City. . . but true leadership comes from good character. I see that character in Bob Dixon. Bob is the same man whether he is sitting in your living room or standing on the floor of the legislature. I know I can count on him.”

Zac’s Story:
Zac was born and raised in Kansas City by a single mom in the inner city. It wasn’t an easy life. Zac beat the odds and graduated from Van Horn High School in Independence and went on to Southwest Baptist University where he received a degree in Biology as well as a degree in Christian Ministries.

Today, he and his wife Tamara Smith-Woods are working in the ministry at Greater Metropolitan Baptist Church where Zac serves as Senior Pastor. When asked if he had any regrets choosing the ministry over a secular vocation, he laughed and said, “Well first off, if you are a Christian, then all vocations are ministry . . . some of us just have the title ‘Pastor’ in front of our name.”

When asked to explain this, Zac continued, “I am no more or no less of a minister than you are. If you put God first in your work, then you are living your life in full-time ministry in your chosen vocation. We have all lost sight of that. You can make a difference. But no, back to your original question, I have no regrets. Everybody has good days and bad days; rough days and smooth ones; sad days and happy ones. The full-time ministry is no different. We are all just human.”

When asked why he’s a conservative, he answered, “Life. Life is sacred. Life is the most foundational human right. That’s where it started for me. From there, I began to realize that there are deep character issues in those who would violate this basic human right. The Founders even put it at the top of their list before ‘Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.’ Those take second and third place behind Life.”

Zac explained how this passion grew. “From there, I realized how blessed I am to be alive and to live in this country; but now I see those blessings slipping away because of some who lack the character to stand up and do what is right – right for all people, not just right for themselves. The hope of freedom and liberty is not possible without good character, and true justice can only be administered by those whose character is built on the foundation of Truth.”

When asked about his vision for our country’s future, Zac said, “We need to start training tomorrow’s leaders today. Their so-called ‘role models’ that are paraded across the TV screen are truly screwed up individuals. We all have to take responsibility and be role models for the next generation. We need to start investing our time and energies in their lives instead of letting them slip through our fingers. We have the chance to make a difference. Just like we lost this country in one generation – we can take this country back in one generation if that generation has been shown how to live lives of good character.”
