Dr. John Lilly
Physician, School Board Member, and President of the Y.O.U.N.G. Conservative of America

Why John is Supporting Bob Dixon:
“Even though I don’t live in Bob’s district, I understand the need to support great candidates like him – we all need to if we are going to put government back into the hands of the people. With that said, Bob has also been a great asset to the local medical community on several issues, and he is a real champion in the area of education – both of which are very important to me.”

John’s story:
John Lilly was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. After high school, John graduated from college in St. Louis but was unsuccessful in his attempts to be accepted to medical school. After earning an MBA at Washington University, he worked in sales, marketing, and real estate. However, John continued to pursue his dream and was accepted to medical school at age 36.

Dr. Lilly has worked in Family Medicine at St. John’s Clinic since 2000, but sees extreme trouble on the medical horizon. He explains, “The Obamacare Plan is unsustainable. The methods of controlling costs in this plan are this: First, you limit reimbursement to physicians for their services. Second, you decrease the benefits on what is and is not covered.” John explains, “This is the model in use right now in the Medicare system.”

But he thinks this is only part of the picture. Dr. Lilly continued, “Three things will happen because of this. First, you will see an overall decrease in new physicians. Second, you will see a decrease in current physicians who will accept new patients. Third, of those physicians who will see you, your time with the physician will be drastically reduced.” John explained that in order for physicians to continue to operate, they will cut an office visit from 15 minutes to about five minutes in order to see more patients.

When asked for his opinion on Proposition C, Dr. Lilly exclaimed, “I am 100% in favor of it! This legislation must be passed!” He continued, “What the federal government no longer understands is that States Rights actually means something. There is a reason it is in the Constitution.” John summed up his thoughts about Prop C with this, “The Framers put it in there to remind future generations that the federal government can’t force We the People to do something that we are simply unwilling to do, and mandating what kind of insurance product we buy with the threat of IRS agents and jail time is clearly why, way over the line.”

When asked what he is looking for in an elected official, Dr. Lilly says, “I am first and foremost looking for a person of integrity, and let me share what I have seen in Bob Dixon over his past eight years in the Missouri House: First off, he’s willing to listen to all parties and positions on an issue. That is not the norm in Jefferson City; in fact, it’s becoming the exception to the rule. Second, Bob Dixon is willing to part with the party line in the interest of his constituents. Take education for example – he broke with his party and supported the opinion and make-up of the vast majority of his district. He demonstrated that he was a voice for the people, and not a puppet of the party.”

For Dr. Lilly, he said his final point is the strongest reason for supporting Bob Dixon: “This was incredible to me – Bob chose to step down as Majority Caucus Chairman so that there was an overlap in his remaining time in the House and the new Chairman’s time in leadership. He wanted there to be a smooth transition to provide for a higher level of stability in the caucus. Now that’s REAL leadership, and in the long run, that is the type of leadership will not only be a great benefit to Springfield, but to Missouri government as a whole.”
