  While we can argue the merits of mandated, government insurance, I want to make readers aware of a few realities that could affect us in Missouri. Over the next four years, states are now mandated to expand their welfare rolls in order to cover hundreds of millions of new enrollees. In Missouri, some estimates put our cost close to half a billion dollars. This is money Missouri does not have.

  Bob Dixon (R-Springfield) has received the endorsement of Missourians United for Life in his campaign to become Springfield’s next state senator. During his life in public service, Dixon has long been an abortion opponent and has passed several pieces of legislation protecting the innocent life of the unborn. The organization, which is dedicated to protecting the sanctity of the lives of unborn children across the state, cited Dixon’s willingness to lead the way on several key issues in the awarding him a “Served with Distinction” honor.

• Dixon Receives Broad Support in Large Fundraising Haul

  Bob Dixon (R-Springfield) reported today that his campaign took in $117,121 in contributions during the second quarter of 2010 in his race to take the senate seat currently held by Sen. Norma Champion. Dixon says that the support is coming from a broad coalition of people that are disenchanted with government today. He says that he is receiving support from a number of conservatives, independents, democrats, and republicans across the city of Springfield.

• Dixon Helps Trim Budget Shortfall

  Springfield, Mo –Rep. Bob Dixon has opted to allow over half of his office budget to be transferred to the state treasury in order to help the state make ends meet. State revenues in Missouri were again down in the month of May by nearly 8% and the governor has made hundreds million dollars worth of withholdings from his budget. Dixon cited those realities as the reason for the decision to make spending reductions in his own office.
