Bob Dixon, a Republican, represents the people of east Springfield and southeast Greene County in the Missouri House of Representatives.  First elected in 2002, he is currently serving his fourth term.  Between 2004 and 2008, he was Majority Caucus Chairman.  Currently, he chairs the House Transportation Committee.

Rep. Dixon graduated from Drury University in 2009 with a M.Ed. (Human Services) degree.  In 1997, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Drury, graduating magna cum laude with department distinction. A 1987 graduate of Christian Schools of Springfield, Rep. Dixon also attended Southwest Missouri State University. He is a member of the Alpha Xi Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society.

Rep. Dixon is a member of numerous organizations, including the Rogersville, Springfield and Strafford Area Chambers of Commerce; Missouri Farm Bureau; James River Basin Partnership; North Springfield Betterment Association and the Kiwanis Club of Springfield North. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The History Museum for Springfield-Greene County, the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Dogwood Trails Council, Inc. and the Board of Associates of New Covenant Academy. Along with his wife, Rep. Dixon also serves on the Association of Evangel University Family and Friends Executive Council. He is a former president of the Midtown Neighborhood Association, a former vice president of Boyd Elementary PTA and a former parent representative on the Springfield R-12 Schools Parent Advisory Council.

Rep. Dixon served as a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Standing Committee on Economic Development, Trade and Cultural Affairs and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Criminal Justice Task Force. In 2006, the Speaker of the House appointed Rep. Dixon to represent that body on the Internet Cyber Crime Task Force, a panel that he helped establish which awards grants to local law enforcement.

His legislative efforts have centered on crime prevention and public safety, the protection of children from predators and abusers, crime victims rights, the advancement of mental health, access to quality and affordable healthcare coupled with insurance reform, and increased funding for quality public education. He has advocated for property tax reform and the ideals of liberty—limited, responsible government; individual freedom; and personal responsibility.

In recognition of his legislative service, Rep. Dixon has received several awards and commendations. For his efforts on behalf of the fine arts, the Missouri Citizens for the Arts presented him with the 2009 Frederick Laas Memorial Award.  His leadership and support for Missouri children has been recognized by the Springfield Public Schools, Burrell Behavioral Health, CASA of Southwest Missouri, the Junior League of Springfield and the Child Advocacy Center.  In 2007, he was honored by the Missouri Judicial Conference for significant contributions to the advancement of the administration of justice.  He has received the Excellence in Government Award (NAMI Southwest Missouri) and the 2005 Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award (Missouri Foundation of the Grand Order of Pachyderms).  The Springfield Firefighters Local 152 (2007) and the Springfield Police Officers Association (2007) have recognized his legislative efforts and support for public safety, and the Missouri Police Chiefs Association named him the 2006 Legislator of the Year. His attention to jobs and Missouri’s economy have earned him the 2006 100% for Jobs Award (Missouri Chamber of Commerce of Industry), designation as the 2005 Outstanding Legislator (Associated Industries of Missouri), and 2004 and 2006 Friend of Agriculture Awards (Missouri Farm Bureau). The Missouri Physical Therapy Association and the Missouri Assisted Living Association recognized him for service to Missouri in the field of healthcare.

Rep. Dixon and his wife, Amanda, have three daughters: Grace, Rose and Olivia. They live in Springfield’s historic Midtown neighborhood and attend church in central Springfield. In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Dixon is a Relationship Manager for Heartland Payment Systems, a payroll and bankcard transaction processing company. He also worked at two Springfield banks, where he received various commendations for his dedication to customer service.
