Dixon’s Commitment to Education, Fiscal Responsibility Recognized by Election to Education Board

Springfield, Mo – Bob Dixon (R-Springfield) will be assisting children in Springfield and across the state of Missouri to receive additional education on fiscal responsibility. Dixon’s active role in the Springfield community and dedication to educating children has resulted in his selection to the board of trustees of the Missouri Council on Economic Education. Dixon said he is looking forward to serving because the board promotes financial and economic education, an area of education in which proficiency among today’s youth is lacking.

“This board is filling a void that is badly needed in our society and I can’t wait to begin our work,” said Dixon. “Every day we are bombarded with information about rising debt, get rich quick schemes, and credit offers too good to be true. In this economic climate, knowledge and discipline about money and the economy is essential to building a stronger future.”
Dixon praised the council’s purpose, stating that because of declining state revenues, funding for classrooms is already taking a hit. He said not-for-profit organizations that help supplement the education that children receive from their schools should be promoted all the time, but especially during budget crunches like the one in which we find ourselves in Missouri. According to many, Dixon’s background and history of supporting the education system in the state of Missouri made him a shoe-in to be named to a board like the MCEE.

“Bob is with out a doubt a strong supporter of Missouri schools, teachers, and students,” said Dr. Rebecca Burrrell, a long time educator and faculty member with the Drury University School of Education and Child Development. “His experience in private business and his proven fiscal responsibility combine to make him a timely and excellent choice for this organization.”

Dixon is the Republican candidate for State Senate in Springfield’s 30th district. The seat is currently held by term limited Sen. Norma Champion. He currently serves as State Representative for the 140th district representing eastern Springfield and Greene County. Dixon received his bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University and his master’s degree from Drury University. He has been active in numerous community organizations during his life in Springfield. Bob and his wife Amanda have three girls, Grace, Rose, and Olivia Dixon.
